For millions of years the demons of old slept, frozen in the depths of the Earth, until now...

Akira lead a fairly normal life, until his archeologists parents go missing. Shortly there after, Ryo, an old friend shows up with an odd tail. According to Ryo, the demons of old are walking the Earth, again. In fact, Ryo shows Akira what he claims to be the skull of a demon. Further, it is discovered, the only thing that can kill a demon is another demon.

So Ryo and Akira come up with a dangerous plan. By performing a modern day version of a demon summoning it may be possible to possess a demon instead of the other way around. The ritual works out for Akira, and Devilman is born. The battle for the Earth has begun.

The Devilman series seems to be quite variable in many areas. By example, the good people at The Right Stuf International classified the second volume in this series as ADULT.
